Welcome to West Cork Garlic!
Since the start of the business in 2011, West Cork Garlic has been grown on land near Ballynacarriga, Enniskeane which has proven to produce great tasting garlic. This is the combination of the rich fertile soil near to the Bandon river along with planting premium quality Irish grown seed as well as reputable imported seed.
After the success of selling through local Farmers/Country Markets, supermarkets and wholefood shops the name “The Garlic People!” was soon an adopted title !
Today we want to share with you our passion for garlic and its countless benefits.
On our smallholding we have planted 10 different varieties of garlic plants with origins in many parts of Europe and Asia for you to choose and treat yourselves with.
We offer garlic for the kitchen, from mild to strong tasting varieties (June onwards) and seed for sowing (August to December). There is nothing more rewarding than growing your own garlic. We can provide you with the best Irish grown varieties that have been proven to grow well in our climate and have been successful over the years here in West Cork (Imported seed can prove to be unsuccessful in this climate)
If you have any questions about growing garlic for a successful home crop feel free to contact us. We will be more than happy to share and provide you with all the advice you need.
Garlic - your friend for life!
"Oh that miracle clove! Not only does garlic taste good, it cures baldness and tennis elbow too." Laurie Burrows Grad
To get the best benefits, you should eat garlic raw. One of the superfoods, garlic contains powerful antioxidants and has antiseptic, antiviral and antifungal properties. It is useful in treating mild lung & intestinal infections. It is important in cardiovascular health as it improves circulation, lowers cholesterol & high blood pressure and helps to prevent thrombosis. Garlic's antioxidants protect the body from cell damage and cancer.
"West Cork Garlic offer a welcome homegrown alternative to the Chinese garlic flooding the country. I wish them every success!"
